What Working With Me Is Like
Many of the boys and men I work with are trying hard to solve their problems. What others may not see is how much effort they are putting in, or how discouraging it feels to keep getting stuck. I believe having someone in your corner matters, especially when progress is not as straightforward as you hoped.
I am relaxed and bring humour into sessions when it fits. I’m comfortable discussing things you may find awkward, and after over a decade of doing this it is hard to surprise me! My approach is nonjudgmental, and that gives us room to be direct and honest when something needs attention.
Together, we’ll explore how past experiences connect with current difficulties and find practical ways forward. For boys and men, masculinity can be an important part of your identity. There is room to consider how you learned to be a man, what you want to carry forward, and what needs to change as you move through different stages of life.
Outside work, I do a lot of my own house repairs (enough to know that “this should only take an hour” means I should book two hours). I bring that same respect for the time and patience change requires into my work with clients. I like working in this field, and treat it like any trade. Each year I pursue training to further my skills and do excellent work each day.
