Our Team

Andrew McKenzie M.S.W., R.S.W.

Andrew has over ten years of experience providing psychotherapy. Currently he supervises a team of therapists at a mental health centre, and maintains a private practice that focuses on issues affecting male youth and men. He is trained to use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to address trauma, anxiety, and depression. He also specializes in learning issues such as LD’s, gifted profiles, and ADHD, and transitional stages. Sometimes, other issues exist alongside mental health difficulties, such as gaming or drug addictions. Andrew recognizes it takes a holistic approach that is founded on a collaborative therapeutic relationship to support positive change.

Something that many clients find motivating about working with Andrew is his use of achievable goals to celebrate change and then maintain a “new normal” of emotional and mental health. He makes use of validated health tools that clients can access online in order to track their progress. In his free time he takes pride in being an old school DIY “expert” (self-proclaimed), and always cheers for the McLaren Racing Team in any races he attends.

Sath Arulvarathan M.S.W., R.S.W.

Sath has been practicing psychotherapy for two years, working in a prominent mental health facility in Toronto. He uses cognitive and somatic (body) focused therapies to support individuals experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Body-focused interventions are aligned with the most recent research on successful therapy and are particularly helpful for clients who feel “talk therapy” will not help. Sath also employs Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and mindfulness as therapeutic modalities.

Sath firmly believes the alliance between the therapist and client is the foundation for any therapeutic approach to be the most effective. Sath is particularly experienced in working with youth and young men as a psychotherapist and also as a community development practitioner. His lived experience moves him to work from an anti-oppressive and strengths-based perspective to build a trusting relationship with clients that have experienced the trauma of oppression. From the foundation of this strong relationship, Sath works to co-create a future-oriented, “growth” mindset by building on a client’s current skill base and future hopes.
